It have been a kicked off in popularity with 3D playback, but displays and media players capable of it are rapidly growing in number, so Buffalo decided it would make an external Blu-ray writer that not only supports Blu-ray 3D, but can even convert 2D to 3D when given the necessary software assistance.

As the most capacious means of storing files on optical disks, the Blu-ray disk format has, naturally, become a media for the propagation of 3D video content. In fact, the recently-released BDXL disks are sure to make it even easier to store multiple 3D films in high quality. As it happens, there are already a number of 3D-capable multimedia players on the market, among other things, so Buffalo catered to the mobile segment. Thus, it put together the BP3D-PI6U2-BK, an external Blu-ray writer that, though not BDXL-ready, fully supports Blu-ray 3D and, with the assistance of the CyberLink PowerDVD 9 software, can convert 2D into 3D.

It comes with the ability to create and edit playlists, a feature called Genius Mixes, as well as a built-in FM radio with live pause. This is the biggest reinvention of the iPod nano since its debut in 2005, and we think users are going to love it.
